I offer consultancy for charities and arts organisations, with a specific focus on access and improving reach in recruitment for open calls/applications/funding opportunities. I have a particular interest in working with organisations interested in engaging more disabled, neurodivergent or LGBTQ+ applicants.
Things I can help with include:
-Increasing numbers of applications from neurodivergent/disabled people
-Developing strategic access framework policies for arts organisations
-Creating and advising on the creation of accessible documentation
-Advising on grey areas surrounding the inclusion of trans and non-binary people in open calls and recruitment
-Conducting access audits of spaces and events, and suggesting adjustments
-Reaching LGBTQ+ audiences, participants or applicants in remote locations
-Ensuring music and networking events are neurodivergent-friendly.
I've had the pleasure of working with arts organisations including Opera North, Scope, Brighter Sounds and Sage Gateshead (now The Glasshouse International Centre for Music) in a consultancy capacity.
“Maddie has an excellent ability to unpack complex issues around terminology, identity and lived experience in a way that is clear and practical. Maddie consistently offered thoughtful guidance, provided inclusive alternatives where needed, and helped us consider how language and messaging might be received by different communities. The feedback provided was organised, constructive and rooted in both professional expertise and lived experience, which made it especially meaningful.”
